A recent report from Android Headlines suggests that Google’s upcoming next-generation Nest Cameras will offer a significant upgrade, moving from 1080p to 2K video recording. The report includes a series of leaked images showcasing new color options for these devices. It also indicates that both the battery-powered and indoor-only Nest Cams may incorporate advanced capabilities driven by the Gemini AI platform, alongside a rebranding of the Nest Aware subscription.
The battery-operated Nest Cam is expected to be available in white and gray, while the wired indoor version could also debut in a striking ‘berry’ red hue. Furthermore, the Nest Doorbell is anticipated to receive the 2K video enhancement and introduce new AI-powered features called ‘Daily Summaries,’ providing daily recaps of recorded events along with color options in white, beige, and gray.
The new Nest Doorbell’s design may bear a close resemblance to its predecessor, according to the leaked information. In addition, more details were unveiled regarding a revamped Google Home Speaker, which briefly appeared during the Pixel 10 launch event. This speaker is likely to feature 360-degree audio and the capability to pair with a Google TV Streamer. It will reportedly include a ‘Sound Sensing’ feature that can identify specific sounds, such as glass breaking or smoke alarms.
Moreover, Google is preparing to rename its Nest Aware subscription to ‘Google Home Premium’ and introduce an additional tier known as ‘Google Home Premium Advanced.’ However, details about the offerings included in the new subscription tiers remain undisclosed.

In the meantime, existing Nest owners can enhance their camera experience by updating the Google Home app, which now offers improved camera management features. Updates include preview snapshots in camera tiles, event notification previews featuring static thumbnails, enhanced live camera playback, and the convenience of quickly navigating 10 seconds forward or backward in video recordings simply by double-tapping the appropriate side of the player.
