Seahawks edge Cardinals with last-minute field goal.

In a nail-biting finish, the Seattle Seahawks triumphed over the Arizona Cardinals with a last-second field goal, concluding the game at 23-20. Seahawks kicker Jason Myers turned the tide after missing a 53-yarder earlier, redeeming himself with a successful 52-yard kick that clinched the victory. Notably, Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba made pivotal connections in the final moments of the game.

After appearing deflated, the Cardinals made a dramatic comeback led by quarterback Kyler Murray. He threw a critical 7-yard touchdown pass to Emari Demercado, bringing the game within reach just 28 seconds before overtime.

The Murray-Marvin Harrison Jr. connection also sparked excitement as they connected on an 18-yard pass that set up the touchdown. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who had a quiet start, shined when he caught a crucial 36-yard pass from Darnold during a key third-down conversion.

On the Cardinals’ side, Marvin Harrison Jr. finally broke through with an impressive touchdown catch that narrowed the score to 20-13, after an earlier unfortunate drop led to an interception. The Arizona defense, which tightened up in the second half, sought to support the offense as they faced a significant deficit.

Despite Jason Myers giving the Seahawks a 20-6 lead with a 31-yard field goal, Murray struggled initially, managing only 116 yards through the air on 18 completions. The Arizona run game also lagged, with just 44 yards accumulated on 11 carries.

As the Cardinals attempted to regain momentum, a failed drive highlighted their struggles, featuring a flea flicker that resulted in a sack followed by a dropped pass.

The Seahawks extended their lead with a solid touchdown drive culminating in a 1-yard run by Zach Charbonnet. Darnold played impressively throughout the game, and the Seahawks dominated the field with a 90-yard drive.

Defensively, the Seahawks dealt with the potential loss of DeMarcus Lawrence due to a thigh injury, which could impact their formidable lineup. The game featured a wild play as Coby Bryant intercepted a pass from Murray, only to fumble it following a collision with a teammate, leaving the Cardinals in a beneficial position.

In the early moments, the Seahawks allowed a short field for the Cardinals, giving way to a Chad Ryland 32-yard field goal that opened the scoring. However, both teams exhibited uneven starts, amplifying the intensity of the matchup.

Murray also faced pressure as he looked to incorporate Trey Benson into the offense following James Conner’s injury, relying on a strong run game to complement their aerial attack. Meanwhile, the game showcased the talents of former Ohio State star wide receivers in Smith-Njigba and Harrison Jr., each having impressive moments both as teammates and opponents in the NFL.

Additionally, the Cardinals made a fashion statement by debuting their new “Rivalries” uniforms, with the Seahawks dressed in their classic attire. The anticipation for this match was palpable as fans witnessed a clash not just of teams, but of burgeoning football stars.
