Los Angeles authorities have filed murder and burglary charges against 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian in connection with the deaths of music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband, Thomas Deluca. The couple was found dead in their Encino home during a welfare check on July 15, 2025.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman, Boodarian allegedly scaled the property’s fence and shot the couple upon their return from grocery shopping. “In a matter of moments, this couple was senselessly killed in their own home as they returned from the grocery store,” Hochman stated. “This tragic shooting has shaken a valley community and the notion that home should be our safe sanctuary.”
Boodarian faces two counts of murder and one count of residential burglary, along with allegations of multiple murders and committing murder during a burglary. He appeared in court on Thursday, where the judge scheduled his next hearing for August 20, with Boodarian currently held without bail.
Robin Kaye and Thomas Deluca, both 70, were believed to have been killed on July 10. Prior to their discovery, the LAPD received reports of a possible burglary at their home after an individual was seen jumping the fence. Upon initial response, officers were unable to enter due to the property’s heavy fortifications, including 8-foot walls topped with spikes. A helicopter surveillance revealed no signs of trouble at that time, according to LAPD Lt. Guy Golan.
Footage reviewed later indicated Boodarian entering through an unlocked door shortly before the victims returned home. When police were able to enter during the welfare check, they discovered both victims had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Detectives have located a firearm at Boodarian’s residence that they will analyze to determine if it is connected to the shooting. Authorities are continuing to investigate the motive behind the incident and the circumstances leading up to it.

Boodarian does not appear to have had a prior connection to the victims, and the police report indicated that the home showed no signs of a struggle or forced entry. If convicted on the current charges, he could face life in prison without parole or possibly the death penalty.
Additionally, the LAPD is reviewing its response to the initial burglary reports to ensure proper procedures were followed. Kaye had contributed to ‘American Idol’ since 2009, according to a spokesperson for the ABC show.
